AWANA

AWANA is a mid-week discipleship program, held on Wednesdays during the school year, for kids in preschool through 5th grade. AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15). During AWANA kids come together to grow in community with each other through fun and games while also learning about God and His Word, the Bible. Through studying and memorizing God's Word at AWANA, they come to know that Jesus loves them, they grow in their relationship with Him, and they become equipped to share this good news with others.

CHECK-IN
Check in at the front desk. Students will be asked the following questions:
1.  Were you at church over the weekend?
2.  Did you bring a gift for God?
3.  Did you bring your Bible?
4.  Did you bring your AWANA Handbook or beginning flyer?
5.  Did you wear your AWANA vest or t-shirt?
6.  Did you bring a friend?
The children receive a point for every affirmative answer. These points are then added to their game points to determine a games winner each week.

LARGE GROUP TEACHING
Sparks and T&T (Truth and Training) clubs will be learning about the beatitudes in their large group teaching time this fall session.

Cubbies large group teaching theme is "On the Farm with Cubbie Bear."

GAMES
The children love game time at AWANA, and it is definitely a highlight of the evening. We have a goal of being intentional about incorporating biblical teaching into the game time. The Sparks and T&T kids are divided into four teams and will work together to recite a verse. The kids earn points for the check-in questions, the number of verses recited by their team, how they participate/listen/cheer/encourage each other during the games, and also for winning the games.  Each member of the winning team receives a candy prize each week.

SMALL GROUP AND HANDBOOK TIME
After the large group teaching time, kids meet in a small group setting with their leaders to discuss the lesson and how it applies to their lives.  At the same time, kids have an opportunity to recite Bible verses in their AWANA handbook that they have memorized at home that week. Kids are encouraged to work at their own pace in their handbook. They are recognized and encouraged in their progress by receiving jewels and badges along the way.

AWARDS

As clubbers complete their handbook, they receive awards. These awards are recognition for their hard work memorizing Scripture. The small group leaders will hand out the awards directly to the children before dismissal. We also recognize the children's accomplishments at the beginning announcement portion of the evening.

DISMISSAL/CHECK-OUT
Each parent needs to sign/initial their child out of his or her classroom to ensure we are releasing the child to the appropriate person. If your child will be picked up by someone other than you, please be sure to  notify the front desk person at check-in.
