Our Leadership Team

The staff and leadership here at New Community Church is comprised of men and women who love, care, and pray for the people in the church and community.   • Mark Bolton - Senior Pastor   

    Mark Bolton is one of the founding pastors of New Community Church. After serving in student ministry and with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Mark got involved in church planting; starting a church in New Jersey before moving to Western Pennsylvania to help another young church become established. Mark’s passion for clear and understandable theology began with his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and then grew as he received his Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida studying Christian sexual ethics. Mark is married to Gina and has two daughters, Hannah and Christine. In his free time he trains and competes in triathlons. 

  • Hollis Haff - Pastor of Discipleship

    Prior to ministry in the local church, Hollis spent 18 years with Athletes in Action, an international sports ministry. He was chaplain to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and one of the pioneers of pro sports ministry. He graduated with a BS in Education from West Virginia University in 1971 and obtained his Master of Divinity from Trinity School for Ministry in 1986. Hollis and his wife Karen have three adult children - Holly, Matthew, and Heather - and 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Hollis loves reading, eating out, going to the beach, and playing with his grandchildren.

  • Adam Jackley - Associate Pastor   

    Adam joined the staff of New Community Church in 2010. Before his arrival, he spent four and a half years (2002-2006) in student ministry in Wexford, PA. Adam graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Public Health - Natural Sciences in 2002. In 2009, he completed his Master of Divinity from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Adam and his wife, Katie, have a daughter, Selah, and sons, Judah and Micah. Adam loves reading, running with his family, and photography.

  • Matt Mason - Worship Pastor  

    A California native, Matthew was called to Pittsburgh in 2009 as an urban missionary with Urban Impact Foundation. Though he was raised singing gospel music, both his musical training (at California Baptist University) and experience have provided him with a diverse musical background. Matthew has been blessed to work with Disney, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, American Opera Company, and more recently, the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh. He has had extensive experience singing for national contemporary Christian gospel recording artists including Steve Green, Norman Hutchins, and Zacardi Cortez, as well as being a singer/songwriter in his own right. His greatest fulfillment is in leading worship. Matt began leading worship part-time at NCC in 2013 and became the Worship Pastor in 2018. Matt is married to Zuli Jones, and they have a son, Ezra.

  • Mary Ann Diel - Assistant Music Director 

    Mary Ann grew up in a musical family and began playing jazz piano at a young age. After deciding to major in music, she attended The University of Miami in Florida as a jazz vocal and piano performance major. As a young adult, she became involved with worship music and performed with several Christian bands. Mary Ann has also been blessed to perform with jazz greats like Grover Washington Jr., James Moody, Nathan Davis, and Clark Terry. She also enjoys big band and jazz vocal arranging and has had her arrangements recorded and performed internationally. Mary Ann began attending NCC in 2016 when she and her husband moved to Gibsonia. She is now serving as a part-time Assistant Music Director at NCC. Mary Ann is married to Marty, and they have four children: Connor, Mackenzie, Luke, and Dylan.

  • Elaine Heitzer - Worship Service Coordinator 

    Elaine grew up in Saxonburg and has always loved living there. She has been involved in worship ministry for over 15 years and has a passion for pointing people to Christ. With a BS in Art Education and a love for painting, she enjoys helping to bring beauty to our worship spaces. Elaine joined NCC in 2009 and has been on staff since 2010. Elaine is one of our worship leaders and is married to Mike, who runs sound for our services. She has a son Chris and a daughter-in-law Vanessa. She enjoys motorcycle riding with Mike, attending Christian music festivals and concerts, flower gardening, singing and laughing.

  • Mary Hoffmann - Director of Women's Ministries 

    Mary has been attending NCC since 1998, and joined the staff in 2017 after faithfully and graciously serving for eight years as the leader of women's ministries. She has a heart for encouraging women of all ages to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ through learning, sharing, and serving. Mary desires to help develop leaders, identify spiritual gifts in others, and encourage women in their faith. She is married to Tom Hoffmann and has three children: John, Anna, and Tommy. Mary enjoys CrossFit, running, obstacle racing, (anything adventurous outdoors), and reading.  

  • Marianne Ferrans - Director of Children's Ministries

    Marianne has been attending NCC since 2005 and has served on staff in Children's Ministries since 2007. She graduated from Newbury College with a BS in Accounting and worked in the field for many years. In 2002 she and her husband started a Sunday-school ministry that God has used in many states and countries over the years. Marianne has a passion for children and leading them to love Jesus. She is married to Ken, and they have two sons, TJ and Joey. Marianne enjoys being outdoors, coaching, reading, cooking, and boating.

  •  Lisa Jackson - Children's Ministry Administrative Assistant   

    Lisa has attended NCC since 2007 and joined the staff in 2013. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with BAs in English and English Education and a minor in Psychology. After graduation, she worked as an editor at a publishing company until she met her husband, J., (lead singer and lyricist of ApologetiX) and they have five kids: Janna, Heather, Kelly, Natalie, and TJ. She enjoys reading and writing but not arithmetic. She also likes Pittsburgh sports, UK basketball, music, movies, and brownie sundaes.

  • Natalie Murray - Children's Ministry Volunteer Coordinator 

    Natalie grew up in the Pittsburgh region and joined the NCC staff in 2019. She earned her B.S. in Secondary Education, English and Mathematics. Her love for children and the Children's Ministry grew from her time as a volunteer in church and mothering her own children Tylee, Titus, and Tesla. Natalie enjoys baking, crafting, and family days at the park.

  • Joel Friend - Director of Student Ministries   

    Joel has served at NCC since October of 2008. He has worked primarily with Student Ministries, particularly middle school. He attended Geneva College where he studied Youth Ministry and Sociology. Joel graduated from Geneva in 2008. Prior to fully committing to NCC's Student Ministries in the summer of 2010, Joel worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support for UPMC, working with children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Joel has a deep affection for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he loves to read or listen to anything by Timothy Keller. He and his wife, Amber, reside in Cranberry Township with their children, Noah and Avelyn.

  • Sophia Roll - Associate Director of Student Ministries 

    Sophia is finishing her Psychology degree at the University of Pittsburgh this semester and will be working with our students part-time through April. She will begin working full-time on May 1. Sophia brings extensive youth and children's ministry experience at multiple North Hills churches and Young Life. She has been active in church ministry since her high school years and has a passion for relational ministry and discipleship. She will be pouring into the lives of our young women. 

  • Vicki Carlson - Director of Connection        

    Vicki joined the staff in the fall of 2008, and she enjoys helping people connect at NCC. She accomplishes her role to help people get connected through Newcomers' Lunches, Covenant Membership functions, small groups, and various serving ministries. Vicki is married to Kurt and they have four children: Caroline, Katie, Kyra, and Kai. Her passions include music, photography, and video production which enables her to create meaningful media pieces.

  • Tami Cavey - Director of Communications/Office Manager          

    Tami and her family have been attending NCC since 2009. In 2014, she joined the staff and now manages the church website and all marketing and communications. Additionally, she oversees the day-to-day running of the office and support staff, and coordinates special events such as the Pig Roast, baptisms, child dedications, weddings, memorial services, and other community events. Tami is married to Bill and has one daughter, Ashley. They are members of a small group and have served as ushers on Communion Sundays together. Previously, Tami served as a leader in Kids' Kingdom and KidZone, and she currently serves on the Women's Ministry team. Tami enjoys traveling, eating out, going to the movies, reading, and visiting her daughter.

  • Gitti Hajduk - Operation Manager

    As one of the founding families of New Community, Frank and Gitti have been involved in various ministries since the church's beginning. They are both presently serving on the Elder Board. Frank has obtained his MBA, CPA and is employed by PNC Bank as Senior Vice President of Risk Management. He uses his accounting skills in the role of CFO for the church. Gitti is onsite to perform the daily tasks of receiving the offering, accounts payable, and all other related business functions. They have three children: Mandy, Eric, and Alex.

  • Ernie Kuhs - Facilities Manager    

    Ernie started attending NCC in 2012. Ernie attended Rosedale Technical Institute and was self-employed as a general contractor for 14 years before he started working at NCC. Ernie is a jack-of-all-trades and brings his training and skills to improving the church's facility and keeping the church a welcoming place to our members. Combined, Ernie and his wife, Carrie, have five children: Emily, Grace, Ernie, Ian, and Stephen. Ernie participated in the first Kingdom Assignment Project, and as a result became involved in the Appalachia mission trips with NCC and World Vision. He enjoys hunting, shooting, fishing, boating, hiking, and spending time with family.

  • Andrea Werth - Administrative Assistant      

    Andrea joined the NCC staff in 2017. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Slippery Rock University. Prior to joining the church staff, she gained experience as an Executive Assistant at a law firm in Colorado. She and her husband Justin reside in Hampton Township with their two daughters, Finley and Devyn, and son, Sullivan. Andrea enjoys music, Pittsburgh sports, exercising, and dance parties with her family.

  • Dan Mularski - Volunteer Men's Ministries Leader     

    Dan was with Hollis and Mark from the start of NCC. Since becoming a Christian in 1976, he’s served in some capacity with youth. In 1991 he helped start an adventure-based program working with delinquent teens and left there in 2011 to be a speaker and writer. Currently he works part-time with Pittsburgh Essential Speakers, a part of the Women’s Choice Network that speaks on relationships and sexual risk avoidance topics in Pittsburgh area high schools. He also leads ✝️FIT Men and is on the NCC Mission Team. Dan has master’s degrees in communications, Biblical Studies, and a PhD in Organizational Leadership. He is single and enjoys travel, adventure, health, and fitness.
