Prepare for Sunday

Each Monday morning, we will provide the passage to read during the week for the upcoming Sunday message, along with the worship playlist. Our prayer is that this enriches your experience with God's Word and worship during the week leading up to the time when we assemble as a community on Sunday morning. 


Sunday, April 19:

1. READ: Exodus 34
2. NOTICE: Pay close attention to verses 6 and 7.  
3. ASK: What do I learn about God in this passage? His character? His love?

4. LISTEN to the songs we will be singing:

  • Psalm 100
  • One Thing Remains
  • Mercy
  • Stand In Your Love

5. PRAY: Thank God for some of the attributes you have learned about Him in those verses (e.g., compassion, grace, slow to anger).


Sunday, April 26:

1. READ: Deuteronomy 6:4-25

2. NOTICE: Pay close attention to verses 4 and 5What is called the Hebrew Shema, which means, 'hear?'  

3. ASK: What would it look like for me to love God with all my heart, soul, and strength?

4. LISTEN to the songs we will be singing:

5. PRAY: God, when was a time when I loved You with all that is in me? What was that like for You, and what was it like for me?


Sunday, May 3:

1. READMark 1:1–15

2. NOTICE:  Look at the words Jesus used to launch His ministry (Mark 1:14-15).    

3. ASK: Why do you think Jesus used those words? How do they apply to you today?
4. LISTEN to the songs we will be singing:

  • O Praise the Name/What A Beautiful Name/Agnus Dei
  • At The Cross (Love Ran Red) 

5. PRAY: that this vision of repentance by J.I. Packer becomes a living reality for you: “Repentance means turning from as much as you know of your sin to give as much as you know of yourself to as much as you know of your God, and as our knowledge grows at these three points so our practice of repentance has to be enlarged.”


Sunday, May 10:

1. READGalatians 5:1-23

2. NOTICE:   How Paul is so upset at how the people of Galatia are returning to a law-based religion (verses 7-12)    

3. ASK: Where in my life have I been put under the law, and how has it bound me and caused harm to my relationship with God?

4. LISTEN to the songs we will be singing:

  • Goodness of God
  • Your Love Awakens Me (video below)
  • Always Remember to Never Forget
  • No Longer Slaves

5. PRAY: That God would show you how you have been hurt by other's efforts to control you. Ask God to help you find the freedom that He intended for you. Not freedom from HIs ways and lifestyle, but freedom from people who want to control you for their purposes.


Sunday, May 17:

1. READJohn 15:1-17

2. NOTICE: The theme of love weaves itself throughout the passage, especially vs. 9-17.   

3. ASK: What is the connection between "remain in my love" (v.9) and "love each other" (v. 17).

4. LISTEN to the songs we will be singing:

  • This Is Amazing Grace
  • Stand In Your Love
  • O The Deep Deep Love of Jesus with Reckless Love
  • Revelation Song
  • Peace Be Still 

5. PRAY: Ask God to show you the centrality of love in the teaching of Jesus and how you can love others as God has loved you.


Sunday, May 24:

1. READ1 Corinthians 12:31-14:1

2. NOTICE: Read 1 Cor. 13:4-8 several times slowly

3. ASK: Where is my love like this description? Where is my love most unlike this description? 

4. LISTEN: to the songs we will be singing:

  • Oh My Soul
  • Mighty To Save
  • King of Kings
  • The Power of Your Name
  • His Mercy Is More (video below)

5. PRAY: Ask God, who is love, to make you more like Him.  Ask God to enable your love to be patient, kind, unenvious, not boastful, not proud, honoring of others, unselfish, uneasily angered, keeping no record of wrongs, dismayed with evil, rejoicing with the truth, protecting, trusting, hopeful, perseverant, and unfailing.  In other words, pray that God would help you love like He loves.  


Sunday, May 31:

1. READ: Luke 15

2. NOTICE: The theme of the whole passage, God's love for lost ones.

3. ASK: When have I loved someone who wandered off?  

4. LISTEN: to the songs we will be singing:

  • Your Grace is Enough
  • I Will Boast in Christ
  • I Surrender All
  • Proof of Your Love
  • Reckless Love

5. PRAY: Remember when you were far off from God and He loved you still. Take a few moments to be thankful that He was patient with you and came to find you.
